Endocrinology Fellowship

Apply for a two-year fellowship in the Division of Endocrinology at the University of New Mexico. You can expect personal instruction as four fellows receive supervision from six full-time endocrine faculty, as well as part-time and volunteer faculty.

Individual faculty members lead weekly board review and didactics materials that all fellows examine. Joint conferences take place with the Department of Neurosurgery, Division of ENT surgery, the Nuclear Medicine Program and the Division of Urology. This ensures continuity of patient care and promotes education.

Rotations

The fellowship program includes rotations at both the University of New Mexico Hospital and the Veterans Administration Medical Center. This comprehensive program involves:

  • Inpatient consultations
  • Outpatient clinic visits
  • Clinical conferences
  • Common services, such as:
    • Management of insulin pumps
    • Continuous glucose monitoring
    • DEXA scan interpretations
    • Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration of thyroid nodules and neck masses

You also can schedule rotations through pediatric endocrinology, maternal-fetal medicine and bariatric surgery during the fellowship.

Research

Fellows should develop a scholarly project, and attend and present at regional and national scientific meetings or publish a case report or a review on a topic in endocrinology.
