Fellowship Clinical Training

Receive comprehensive training in all clinical aspects of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism during a two-year fellowship at the University of New Mexico. As an endocrinology fellow, you will fulfill clinical duties each year during:

These hospitals serve as referral centers for New Mexico, western Texas, eastern Arizona and southern Colorado. Consultations typically cover the breadth of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. You will gain excellent exposure to not only common endocrine diseases but also to rare and challenging cases.

Outpatient Care

Expect a similarly diverse outpatient clinical experience. Build a patient base and follow patients long-term as diseases evolve and management issues change. In addition to the General Endocrine Clinic, specialty clinics include:

  • Diabetes
  • Metabolic bone
  • Lipid
  • Skull base (pituitary)
  • Transgender clinic

Fellows may also choose to participate in pediatric endocrinology, maternal-fetal medicine and bariatric surgery clinic.

Interdisciplinary Approach

The Division of Endocrinology also works closely with the Departments of Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology, Urology and Radiology to take a multidisciplinary approach to disease management.
