As Chief of Rheumatology, Dr. Bankhurst is committed to providing community service. He is most proud of his contribution to the ECHO Program. The ECHO Program provides clinical support and training to the rural areas of New Mexico, training providers so that they may treat their own patients instead of the patient having to travel hours to see a specialist.

In addition to providing medical care to the rural and indigent populations of New Mexico, both Dr. Bankhurst and Dr. Sibbitt provide rheumatologic care to the state’s Native American population. Dr. Bankhurst travels to Pine Hill quarterly to see the state’s Navajo. Dr. Sibbitt travels to Indian Health Services each month.
