Research Interests

Wiggins, with over 35 years of experience in cancer surveillance and epidemiology, has a strong interest in cancer among underserved populations. He’s coordinated instruction in epidemiology and biostatistics for medical students at the UNM School of Medicine since 2006.

In addition to being president of the board of directors for the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries, Wiggins is intimately familiar with the structure, use and interpretation of data from central cancer registries. His experience of combining cancer registry records with other data sources for the purposes of scientific research has helped investigators to successfully conduct population-based research utilizing data from central cancer registries.
