Division explores rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases

The Division of Rheumatology was established in 1969; Dr. Bankhurst has been the Chief since 1979. Dr. Sibbitt joined the division in 1981, after completing his fellowship. Dr. Bankhurst and Dr. Sibbitt have published over 350 manuscripts over the course of their tenure at the University.

Dr. Bankhurst and Dr. Sibbitt have consistently been on the cutting edge of new therapies over the course of their careers, including providing clinical trials for the major biologics which helped revolutionize Rheumatology in the late 1990s.

Annual Regional Conference

Dr. Bankhurst believes that the Division must serve as a leader in the region. As part of that mission, he ensures that a regional Rheumatic Disease Conference conference is provided each year during the last weekend of April. Providers gather from Texas, Colorado and New Mexico in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to listen to and be educated by leaders in the field.

The 11th Annual Rheumatic Disease Conference will be held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on April 27-April 28, 2012. Read the agenda.
