Sleep Medicine

About the UNM HSC Sleep Medicine Program

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center Program in Sleep Medicine is headquartered in the University Hospital Sleep Disorders Center. The facility is fully accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. The Program in Sleep Medicine also provides inpatient sleep testing for children who require inpatient services due to the extent or complexity of their medical problems.

Originally established in 1983 as the first comprehensive sleep disorders center in New Mexico, the Program is staffed by sleep medicine experts from the fields of adult pulmonary medicine, geriatrics/internal medicine, neurology, and pediatric pulmonary medicine. All are teaching faculty at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Consultative support is provided by additional faculty in otolaryngology (ear-nose and throat surgery), psychiatry, cardiology and other specialties.
