Academic Career

King received her PhD from the University of Washington in Seattle, School of Fisheries in 1985. In 1991, after postdoctoral training in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Washington, she joined the Public Health Sciences Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, where she ran a Biomarker Laboratory until 2007. She joined UNM’s Epidemiology and Biostatistics Division in 2008 on a part-time basis.

Research Interests

King has an interest and extensive experience in the areas of nutritional biochemistry, preeclampsia, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer epidemiology. She has authored or co-authored more than 100 original research papers. King’s primary research focus is on the role of fatty acids in health and disease.
